The Inner Workings of A Cat

The Rinnegan and Animal Path granted many things. Including the amazing ability to summon different sorts of animals, Ikomiki could also implant her Rinnegan in each of the beings she summoned. This was what she had done to these summons as she brought them out. Each were sporting a pair of the same Rinnegan she was, along with the chakra receivers that stuck out of them which allowed her to control them fully rather than allowing them to be simply wild animals with a mind of their own. The Rinnegan in their eyes though granted Ikomiki a shared field of vision. It was an incredibly useful, if lesser ability that the Rinengan granted.

It was because of this, her increased field of vision, that Ikomiki was able to spot a shifting in the bushes. It was behind her, but within the eyesight of the two massive animals that had just been summoned. The rhinoceros and the ox would both stare, watching with their eyes the small movements and the noticing the squeaking of the rodents. There would be no movements from the girl. She stayed still, unmoving and unflinching even now as she knew she was being watched. Even with her back turned. Any sudden movements would be inviting a strike, and she had no way to know the intentions of the strange woman.

Another would be brought out now. A giant chameleon that similarly had two Rinnegan in its eye sockets. Its tail was a large snake, similarly having its own pair of Rinnegan. Its body is covered in scales and it has bandages wrapped around the centre of its back. It has two wings on its upper back which are porous and badly ripped. It has two oddly shaped horns coming from the back of its head. The right horn is snapped off and wrapped in bandages while its left horn has four black receivers stuck through it, signalling it as another one of Ikomiki’s summons and under her control. No movements would be necessary to bring it out, and it would be summoned a good distance away from her. Far beyond her behind, bursting out of the ground behind the woman in the tree and quickly assuming invisibility with its natural chameleon powers. It would be sent forward slowly, approaching with as much stealth as it could assume with its size.

Its tongue lashed out, its mouth shooting open as it got close enough. From behind the woman in the tree it would stretch out, aiming to wrap around her with its sticky pink fleshy length. It was sufficient for binding, ideally wrapping the woman’s body to the tree.

And then another would be brought out. Up in the air, exploding into the skies would be a massive bird. It was unusual, as not only did it demonstrate a prominent and jagged yellow-coloured beak, but it also featured three distinct legs as well as wings. It also has one giant chakra receiver sticking through the right side of its back and another one sticking through the left side of its neck, another clear signal of who controlled it. Rather than any action it would simply be allowed to circle the skies, scanning the area and serving as another precaution.

And then there would be another. Three now had just been popped out, in addition to the first two she just produced. A giant centipede summon that had a number of body piercings, most notable the one sticking straight through its head, and the Rinnegan, implying again that it was being controlled by the Animal Path. Its face and all of its feet were orange, and all writhed as it was summoned to Ikomiki’s back as another form of protection. Just a defensive response.

At this rate more and more popped out. One after another, surrounding her and flooding the arena now with summons. Her new power was getting the better of her, flooding her mind with this power and her body with the surging strength and chakra. Her limits were broken, and now she would flex. A giant panda would appear, resemblng a regular panda bear with the exception that it has a number of large piercings all over its body, wears a black sash around its waist and possesses Rinnegan eyes. Its arms and legs are all black in colour while everything else is white. It also has black markings around its eyes. A crustacean would follow, having a number of chakra receivers, one being stuck through the top left side of its back and another in the lower right side of its back also. Around its mouth and all of its underside are colored white while the rest is a reddish colour. It has eight crab-like legs and two big crab-like pincers. It has many large spikes jutting out of its lower back area, most notable the very large spike in the center of its lower back.

She smiled, still with her back turned. Through the chameleon’s vision she could see that she had been successful in her attack. Getting the drop on someone who thought they were getting the drop on you was a very pleasurable thing, and she couldn’t help but feel proud of herself.

One by one the animals she summoned would be released. First the ox and the rhino, and then the other extraneous ones that had been summoned. All of them were just for show. She was just flexing, seeing for herself what she was capable of. All the new toys that she had to play with were lined up, nice and pretty and straight, and then she could choose the ones that she wanted to play with. All would disappear in plumes of smoke, with the exception of the chameleon that had tied up Akeruseirei up with its sticky tongue. It was wrapped around the tree several times now to bind the woman, although part of her knew that likely Rei could have broken free if she pleased. In the same way Ikomiki hadn’t been putting her full effort into the chameleon’s attack either. It was just playful, for fun. What was interesting to note was that despite their sensory being linked she couldn’t truly feel through the chameleon. It wasn’t something he had noticed before. She could feel in a certain sense, as in that she was aware of what the chameleon was touching through it’s skin, but it was in a way that was dull and stretched out. Although she had never tested it the feeling she was getting made her think that if the chameleon felt pain, like if its tongue was cut off, the pain wouldn’t reach her in the same way that it would if it was her own body being cut. Not enough to make her flinch, or to hurt her.

Turning around now, the grin would be visible on Ikomiki’s face, and so would her activated Rinnegan. She would pounce forward, before jumping up to leap into the same tree where Akeruseirei was. Landing only a few feet away on the branch, the girl looked uncharacteristically pleased with herself.

“I~ Got~ You~” The three words would come out in a sing-song, each punctuated.

The chameleon too would be released, the beast poofing up into a plume of white smoke as she released the summoning. Akeruseirei would be released, the beast’s tongue no longer binding her to the tree as it had been, although the stick saliva would remain on her clothing. A gift of sorts. Ikomiki would be left standing triumphant. Successful. More pleased with herself than she had been in a long, long time. The blood was working. Doing its wonders in her system and now she felt more powerful than ever, reaching heights that she hadn’t been able to previously. Her past concerns regarding the situation melted away under the high that came with the new power.

The rats would be noticed, down at her feet. Ikomiki still had her eyes active, purple and ringed. It gave her a different expression than her usual eyes. Just the difference in color made for a difference in perception, even without the baggage that came related to the Rinnegan.

“I don’t need snacks. I can hunt on my own.” She would state, something like a child refusing a parent trying to feed them. “There are good fish in here. I can even make my animals hunt for mee so I don’t have to get wet in the river.” She would nod her head in a somewhat simple attitude towards it. Like any cat she enjoyed hunting, although the act of piloting her summons to do it without any physical exertion on her part was also just another part of her nature. It was like being fed by someone else without any of the demeaningness that came from it.

More than 48 has passed

Ikomiki would watch the woman trail off. The response, what she had said, was something Ikomiki could only respond to with silent and unspoken confusion. It was only a second until those feelings drained away though. Has she changed? Were things different now? It seemed that the woman was upset with her, offended by some idle part of what she had said. It brought back that itching and scratching feeling that she had been trying to ignore before. That a part of her was being shed off, torn away and left behind. Like there was less of her now, and something foreign had pushed her in and replaced the gap. It was something that the surge of energy let her forget for a moment, but as she was left now, staring at Akeruseirei’s back, Ikomiki would wonder again. Rather than following the woman, Ikomiki would turn back into the forests. Back to her animals. Back into her eyes. There was still so much for her to see, and more power that she could stretch out. All this confirmed was that it wasn’t the end.

Was she different now? Had she been domesticated?
