It wasn't an easy decision to make, but he had spent long enough in Kumo, and he needed to get out. Something felt fundamentally wrong now hat he knew more about his situation, and he knew that with his skillset he'd be able to do as he stated in his ticket.
There was also the memorial he needed to set up. That was important.
Having sealed up his gear that he figured he wouldn't instantly need, he'd hand his ticket to the guard, then head on out to do some recon.
