Black hair as fine and soft as silk, falling pin straight across skin almost as pale as the mist that covers her home is the very first impression anyone has of her; and, typically, their very last. In stark contrast to this ghostly image, her eyes are startlingly violet, nearly luminescent against the moonlight; and when her bloodline is active, eyes that glow a blood red. She is frightening, and beautiful, a specter of the mist that most only see once, if they’re lucky.to see that much. Beyond the mystique, however, it is clear there is much more to see. When the sun strikes her just right, the fine black hair burns violet, contrasting ever harder against her pale features.
Katrina is built like a china doll. Pale skin, black hair, and an incredibly petite body. Topping out at a measly 4’11, Katrina is tiny, especially compared to many kunoichi her age. She has curves to match her pretty face, but are more often hidden beneath layers of clothing. Katrina is quite shy about her body. There are many layers one must get through before seeing her bare, figuratively and quite literally. Over the pitch black unitard she wears, traditional clothing is worn; black hakama and matching kosode; contrasting sharply is the belt, of a bright gold and white trim. Over this is worn a golden haori, decorated with the red eye of the Yurei on the backside, signifying her as the rightful head of the clan, despite its wandering status. She is shod in boots, the only part of her breaking the traditional appearance. Her hair is typically worn loose, but the bangs pulled back to not inhibit her vision.
Despite her small stature, Katrina seems almost larger than life; there is a forcefulness to her presence, an intensity to her gaze that makes everything she does seem purposeful and controlled. She is very deliberate in her actions, careful with every word she says, which gives her a pretentious air. Also, the fact that she is quite pretentious does that as well.
History: Born to Serena Kawada and Taheko Yurei, Katrina was born for destiny; or, at least, that’s what her father claimed. The most talented Yurei in generations, seemingly born with phenomenal ability, Katrina was raised as royalty, despite her shabby surroundings. Her father, though no ninja, moved in to be supported by his wife’s family, who resented the interlopers who stole their daughters heart. Despite this rough environment, Katrina grew up in a relatively normal home for the first few, formative years.
But as a child, when her Dojutsu showed itself, life changed for her. Her father began to train her, and gone were the innocent, childhood years of playing and hanging out with Mommy; it was replaced with hours training under harsh conditions, learning to control this strange new ability, and schooling. All in an attempt to turn her into a powerful Ninja who can bring the Yurei back from the dust. This had quite the toll on the happy young child, turning her into the seclusive woman she is today.
As soon as she was of age, she joined the Academy, excelling in school but particularly in the the Sensory arts. Her natural Dojutsu and perceptive abilities already made her leagues above her classmates, and her hard work and natural headstart only exaggerated this. However, her repressed personality and subversive nature put her at odds with her classmates. When she graduated, she wasn’t immediately put on a team, instead working secretly for Kiri on a defensive specialist team. It was only by her request that she was eventually placed on a team.
Personality: Her entire life, Katrina was told that she was fated to bring the Yurei back from the brink of extinction. That it was her job to save the clan, secure her place for them among Kirigakure’s elites. It’s a lot of pressure for a young girl, and it shows. Katrina is an incredibly serious individual when one first gets to know her, refusing to smile or show any form of a sense of humor. She is quiet, preferring to talk as little as possible to people she doesn’t know. She isn’t shy, far from it, she has no qualms about voicing her opinions if need be. She simply doesn’t believe in speaking unless you have something to say.
Now, that said, Katrina is an incredibly sarcastic individual, and the more one gets to know her, the more this slips through the cracks in the walls she built herself. Cutting remarks are common, and so are frustrated grunts and fits of rage she normally keeps carefully concealed underneath a mask of arrogance and superiority. This slips further and further the more she is comfortable with someone, eventually revealing the girl underneath. Sarcastic, opinionated, and quite fiery, with strong opinions about nearly everything, she is quite a lovely person once you get to know her (if you like that sort of thing).
In private, she enjoys several luxuries typically reserved for the small. Dressing up, playing with dolls, having tea parties; they’re all things she enjoys. Though she employs a rather brooding outfit and countenance, if one gets close to her they’ll find that her room is quite bright, filled with bright colors and frills fit for a princess. This is all kept firmly behind closed doors, of course, with no possible way to see short of burglary or dating her.
In her interactions with others, Katrina is quite reserved, particularly with strangers. She is terrified of doing anything that will look bad to her family name. She cares about little beyond restoring her family and making her father proud, which comes down to the first point in the end. Knowledge is the key to this; unlocking the true power of her ancestral abilities, mastering them, and claiming a slice of land in their ancient home are her ultimate goals. Because of this, Katrina hates secrets and has dedicated herself to rooting them out; even something such as her teammates whispering about something irks her to no end. This has earned her the reputation of being rather nosy and sneaky. However, despite her desire to root out secrets, she is loathe to divulge them, making her an excellent secret-keeper, particularly if said secrets aren’t her own.
Ultimately, Katrina values loyalty and honesty above much else. There are very little ways to get on her bad side faster than disloyalty and dishonesty. While she won’t immediately turn violent, she will find you the scum of the earth. In combat, she is ruthless and efficient, rarely pausing to discuss or swap life stories; however, perhaps at the cost of winning, she will delay to analyze or questions about techniques she’s never seen before. A sponge for knowledge, she’ll do nearly anything for power.
Romantically, she’s quite the hard nut to crack. Though physically she’s attracted to both genders, Katrina is mostly attracted to power. This megalophilia is quite all consuming, trumping any physical or emotional attachment she may have for someone. Simply by demonstrating power, knowledge, or skill that far surpasses what she knows will be enough to get her enamored. This is a dangerous road; enamored leads to obsession, and the object of her obsession is in danger. Unused to these emotions, unable to cope, she may just decide to kill them in an attempt to get the suffering to stop.
