One-handed Seals: Pretty straightforward. Kato may weave hand seals with only one hand. This results in a one tier loss of Coordination for that hand regarding hand seals, but frees up the hand to do whatever else needed.
Appearance:
Kato stands at an impressive 6’ 6” and at a glance, seems to be relatively thin with sharp facial features, a messy mop of black hair on the top of his head. HIs eyes are typically a dull grey, but have a tendency to turn bright blue and almost glow when his Chakra begins to flare. He tends to wear pretty casual, loose fitting clothing that are plain, and tend to have a dark color theme to them, but that is to hide what he contains underneath. The byproduct of countless hours training his body, he has enough chiseled athletic muscle that he could be mistaken for a body-builder, but it isn’t so overly bulky that it ever gets in the way. When on a mission, he prefers a grey, sleeveless shirt and black pants, most of his equipment finding its way into a backpack or in sleeves of a long black jacket. Kato carries himself well, his demeanor often times considered serious and professional, showing a maturity that most don’t gain in their late teens, but nothing overly serious.
History:
From the first day he could remember, Kato knew that he would one day house the One Tail Bijuu, Shukaku. The demon Racoon. His father was the one who contained it before him, something that had been passed through the generations, but Kato was different than his father for a single and very important reason; he was a Tetsudashi. Kato’s mother, Mei, was a strict and disciplined member who had left the clan proper and traveled to Kumogakure in the hopes of starting a new life away from the clan itself, already bearing Kato despite not knowing it in an act of passion before she had left.
Kato was taught from very early on to be disciplined, physically and mentally tough, trained and proficient in every task and drill that Mei put him through. He was quick to learn, adapted easily to every situation she put him in, and quickly became a steadfast soldier who was devoted to Kumogakure. He understood that he would be the Jinchuuriki, house one of the most powerful beasts in existence, and be a powerful Ninja that would one day help safeguard the village by wielding the power of Shukaku. He trained every day with that in mind, knowing that it would be something he would wrestle with for the majority of his life until he too passed it onto the next generation. He was never told who his true father was, nor that the man he thought of as his father was not… something that Mei has kept secret from everyone.
Kato went through the academy as normal, excelled in anything that required hand-speed or coordination, impressing staff with his ability to be both an excellent academic student and strong fighter from early on. He graduated, but was not assigned to a team or sent on beginner missions; instead, he was brought to a secret location so that the beast would be placed within him using a powerful seal. It took time, but when he emerged several years later, he was now a Jinchuuriki who was able to keep the beast at bay without problems. The process took his father’s life, who was already ill with a disease no one could identify, which was why it was so rushed. Now he re-enters the general public, no one the wiser that he bears such a powerful being within him.
Personality:
Kato tends to err on the serious side of things as a first impression and when working, keeping emotions in check and projecting a maturity that is rarely seen in adults, let alone someone in their late teens. Once you have earned his trust, however, and he grows comfortable with you, he will relax in private settings, be easily embarrassed, and overall is a relatively normal person, but that only happens once you get under that initial layer of control and discipline. Very mission oriented, he is often seen as methodical, calculating and even cold when confronted with many situations, able to make difficult decisions based on logic and without tying his emotions into the process to make his choices. But constantly repressing those emotions is exhausting, despite his knack for it, and he often is seen as more tired than normal when not working. Although he projects being a professional, he is quite adaptable as well, capable of fitting into a variety of situations to ensure that he always comes out on top, a bit of competitiveness underlying his mask. If you are someone he trusts and cares for, there is nothing on Earth that he won’t protect you from.
