Niko set down the order on the side of her bench, noting that this was probably going to be one of the most annoying missions she had done for her Blacksmithing.  Making jewelry?  If she wasn't so desperate for Ryo, she wouldn't worry about it so much, but she was, and since this mission wasn't a particularly difficult one, and it would also help her practice her fine-art skills and engineering.  This type of small, fine work was something she wasn't familiar with, and since the market was providing the gold and silver, she had little complaints in truth.  She was getting excellent practice and technically getting paid for it.

But she had to get something truly productive too.  She eyed the five units of ebony sitting on the workbench beyond the paper.  As soon as she was done with the mission, she would turn her attention to what she truly was going to enjoy.  A batch of upgraded arrows and a batch of Senbon for Oriana, a pair of Katana's for Shunko, and a set of Ebony Senbon for herself, which would help her upgrade from the steel ones she possessed.  Setting the hearth ablaze and preparing to get to work, she took a moment to stretch and crack a few key joints to limber up, knowing that she was going to be burning the midnight oil on this one.

Jewelry, as it would turn out, was far more of a challenge than the red-head realized. It might have been because she was simply too much of a perfectionist. She had spent an entire day on two pieces of silver jewelry, and while she definitely wasn't going to say that they were works of art, they definitely showed how much time and energy she had put into them. Shunko had helped out once in a while, as well as Oriana, assisting her with little things that needed to happen like food and breaks. She was extremely thankful to have the help too, because when the red-head really set into her work, she was truly and completely focused. She lost all sense of time as she dived into the project headlong, and it was infuriatingly meticulous the level of detail that was needed to make each piece look good.

For a moment, she looked longingly towards the ebony, but shook her head. Mission Work before Gift Work.

Settling back in at her workbench, her precision tools all laid out to the side and set up to where they were all in order and within easy reach, she wouldn't even have to look in order to grab the one she needed. They had been cleaned meticulously by the girls at some point when she had finally been dragged off to bed, so she must have needed to thank Shunko in particular for that bit of extra effort. The girl was nothing short of a miracle worker when it came to keeping the equipment she used in optimal condition, while Oriana was able to focus on things like food, rest, and other means of ensuring Niko herself didn't burn out too quickly. This was not a sprint, but a marathon, and keeping the pace would be important.

Two more days down... Niko leaned back in her chair near her workbench and stared up at the ceiling of the forge, spent for the day. It wasn't the normal hard-labor of working the forge and large pieces of metal she was used to, but more of a mental drain than anything else. Still, this was helping her understand the importance of small and fine detail, the little things that she knew were important but really didn't have a lot of time to focus on. This was where she needed to train the way she was; which would help her elevate her skills to the next level in just about all of her other crafting methods. If she could master this, perhaps she could start working on her final project sooner than expected... but she wouldn't be satisfied with that until she had it all just right.

Rising from her seat, she felt like it was time to call it a night before the girls came barging in and demanded that she rest. She looked over the jewelry she had made thus far, all final products, and noted that while she could do better, this was only for the market after all. There was no need to get too worked up over it. If she would have gotten better pay in exchange for a higher-end product it was one thing, but she had spoken to the powers that be on the subject and it had been shot down unanimously. So, she would do the best she could with what she had and take each piece as a lesson learned. Already her mind was dancing around the idea of what she could design using the skills she had learned, and as she left the forge for the night, knowing she would return in the morning, she wondered what else she might learn.

Niko took a deep breath and leaned back, setting the new Ebony equipment aside and taking a moment to let her sore muscles relax. But only for a moment, and as soon as that moment had passed, she leaned forward again, and began to clean up. There was still so much to do and not a ton of time to do it, and this was a better opportunity than any other to get some things done. She felt like she had learned a lot from making the jewelry, and hopefully, it would come in handy with some of her other designs. Already her mind was swimming with ideas and schematics that she could put to use, and for the moment she was going to do everything in her power to make sure that she could bring those fleeting dreams and thoughts into reality. She took a moment to eye the Senbon, smiling at the thoughts of what she was going to be able to do with such high-grade equipment.

And it would only get better. But the first thing was first, she had to proceed to turn in her mission, get paid, and work on making things better moving forward. And that meant there wasn't much time to waste on something like relaxing... although a nice, hot bath sounded amazing right now. Perhaps she would allow herself that much as congratulations for working her butt off for over a week straight. Grabbing the jewelry she made and placing it into a box that would hold each item in place, Niko brought herself to stand and gathered her things, moving to the market. The store owner who had put the request in was very thankful for her hard work, and once she had gone and turned in the mission receipt at the mission booth, she then immediately went back to replenish her supplies, spending a bit of that 30,000 Ryo on yet more ebony for weapons. Now it was finally time to head home.
