    Mission Details:

Inarie noted that the mission mentioned that this was to be a real combat. Granted there were restrictions such as no killing blows or permanently wound each other. She was to drive some actual combat experience with one of the Kirigakure Genin, and there was merit to this as training the next generation of shinobi would ensure this nation’s legacy would remain intact. Granted the person she was to spar against was also a Kaguya, so fighting is more or less drilled into their heads since youth. Both hand to hand and weaponry were a must for Kaguya upbringing.

Yet the odd part is that Inarie discovered that despite Haruko being a Kaguya, Inarie hasn’t heard of her until recently. In fact the records showed that Haruko was dead, yet she is clearly alive to this day. It was a bit odd, and it was a question that Inarie wanted to inquire about. Yet for this mission to be successful Inarie dismissed her questions and simply focused on the task at hand. Inarie can easily be found at the training grounds accompanied by some of the Kirigakure medical shinobi as this was more or less a sanctioned match. It was a decent sized clearing that yielded no advantage on either side. A good 40 meters of cleared earth with three training posts positioned in the north that have dents and shallow cuts from the numerous beating that was put into them. 40 meters to the east a small lake that’s useful for water jutsu, and over at the west and south of the clearing is a cluster of forest. A light mist can be seen in the air, but not thick enough to hinder visual contact.

Inarie is a 5’9” lady with a cascade of platinum locks that flows down to her mid-section of her back. Pinched between her pearl white teeth is a hair tie as she pulls up her wavy hair, and taking the tie from her teeth Inarie puts her platinum hair into a ponytail. Patches of metallic blue scales can be seen on both cheeks of her face. Each of them resemble vague bat-like wings that frame under her piercing rose pink eyes that remains attentive to her surroundings. A face protector can be seen framing her face with the headband on her forehead. Displaying the Kirigakure symbol on a titanium plate. Her feminine features are more or less masked by the titanium shirt with the uniform body armor. On her uniform slacks is a leather belt with an attached baldric that would normally hold her titanium katana, but on this occasion she chose not to bring it into the fight.

On her left flank is a hip pouch that contains her basic tools, and on her left thigh wrapped in white cloth holds a holster which also contains three kunai. On her hands is a pair of lightly armored gloves, and on her feet is a pair of lightly armored boots. With her hair out of her face, Inarie simply crossed her arms over her chest as she patiently waited for Haruko to arrive.

Ever since her return to the Shinobi Life, the young Kaguya--Yuki hybrid had already been through quite a bit. Her life had changed a lot in the past few months, she'd even had a birthday recently, now 19. It'd been shaping her into a more confident shinobi, even if confidence was something she desperately needed to work on. Hopefully todays 'Mission' would help the young woman's drive, while considered a Mission--it really was a sanctioned spar with another member of the village. This would normally by itself not have Haruko nervous--she'd spent years in captivity being forced to fight while starving and dehydrated, weakened. Fighting didn't make her nervous. It was whom she was to battle with...

Haruko had heard about the events of the Chuunin exams. Chigetsu, Haruko's cousin, had a battle during the finals with a young woman...one who too, like Haruko, had the abilities of two bloodlines. Kaguya included. Now...Haruko was to spar with the very same woman her cousin had faced in the exams. Haruko made her way towards the training area of Kirigakure, where she was to meet up with Inarie, the young woman's icy gaze fallen to the ground in front of her as she walked. She'd have her hood up on her outfit, a blue dress and cloak trimmed with a gold hue, bandages covering from her knuckles to almost her elbow on both hands--and her feet would simply be bare, knowing she had to fight--she felt more comfortable barefoot.

While she seemed prepared as far as being ready for battle, her demeanor wouldn't show this. She was visibly withdrawn as she walked, entering the training grounds. She'd been so distant with the clan, effectively for 5 years disconnected with them, she didn't actually know Inarie...all she knew is what she'd heard from the recent exams and the battle against Haruko's cousin, and one other detail that piqued Haruko's interest. While nervous...she wished to get to know Inarie. The two woman had something in common...beyond their shared Kaguya blood, Inarie too had been gifted, or cursed depending on view, with another bloodline at birth. Part of learning this made Haruko at ease, if only a little...an idea she wasn't alone in being a hybrid Kaguya and another clan.

Azure hues finally lifted, and in the distance she could spot a small group of people, easy to pick them out as medical personal, and the one she'd be facing today--Inarie Kaguya. A cold chill went through Haruko, odd sensation for a half-Yuki with cold blood, but she suddenly felt very unprepared as she approached and began making out details. Inarie had been standing with her arms crossed as Haruko approached, and from there she could spot that Inarie had a lot more gear then Haruko. Kunai holster, hip pouches, lightly armored gloves and boots...Meanwhile the Kaguya-Yuki hybrid stepped into this barefoot, in only her outfit--no kunai, no holsters or pouches. Things already wasn't looking to be in Haruko's favor...but she had to push on, if she was to get stronger, that meant taking on opponents whom are stronger, have better gear, or both.

The young woman would stop across from Inarie, little under 10 meters away. Her voice carried her nervous tone, but she still would try to speak clearly. "H-hi...I am sorry if I am late. I'm Haruko." she'd say, her gaze having lifted enough to have her head tilt back just a hint to try to look Inarie in the eyes, Haruko being much shorter than the platinum haired Kaguya. literally nearly a foot shorter, even from this distance, the 4'10" Haruko had to look up to look at Inarie. She'd take notice of what looked like scales...something she'd heard about, having to do with her other bloodline. She wanted to ask...but was afraid to be awkward about it, so she'd simply remain quiet, giving time for Inarie to talk.

It certainly took a while of patiently waiting, and frankly it was bringing back memories of the last time Inarie was to spar with someone. Thankfully that wasn’t the case as the honored guest finally showed up to her party. A metaphor of course, but not entirely wrong either. This was a test for Haruko afterall. Frankly this mission wasn’t meant to benefit Inarie specifically, although the money does help a bit. Even though she’s a Chunin now, Inarie can’t ignore the future generation of shinobi. Of course, Genin and Academy Students are being trained regularly. However Inarie understands the concept of changing the scene so to speak.

Upon seeing Haruko despite the height difference, Inarie presented a small smile on her face. Her rose pink eyes swiftly analyzed Haruko for gear and armor. Although she was perplexed on how vacant in both categories Haruko was. Inarie wonders if the girl doesn’t know that there is an armory where Haruko can gather the basic supplies without paying a dime for it. Still the girl seemed to be withdrawn from the world. Timid, Inarie noticed. The same level of timidness that Chigetsu held during the Chunin Exams.

Showing the same level of respect, Inarie nods her head as she acknowledges Haruko’s name. ”My name is Inarie Yoru-Kaguya, a pleasure to meet you Haruko. In a real fight it’s sometimes best to take your time and assess the situation. Assuming you have the luxury to do so that is.” Inarie’s voice held the kind of warmth that possessed the years of discipline as she spoke. Inarie uncrossed her arms and let them fall to her sides. Taking a more sincere tone, Inarie follows up with a briefing on what’s to occur.

”This spar is to give you some real combat experience and it is a test on what you need to work on. Despite this exercise, lethal blows and/or techniques are not authorized. This is still a training session after all, not a death match.” Her small smile had shifted to a neutral stoic expression as Inarie’s unwavered eyes stared at Haruko. Which can be intimidating to some people as Inarie is staring into Haruko’s eyes. ”Any questions so far?”

The icy depths of Haruko's gaze would remain on Inarie, noticing the small smile that formed on the platinum haired teen's features. While Haruko was older then Inarie, Inarie possessed a fair bit more experience then her. The one standing across from Haruko on this battlefield today was a Chuunin, having been promoted after the battle with Chigetsu. The Kaguya-Yuki hybrid knew she was outclassed already...but as Inarie spoke, Haruko mentally prepped herself. She was already in the process of assessing the situation, her opponent, and even their surroundings before the Kaguya-Yoru even mentioned doing so. For a brief moment between what Inarie was saying, Haruko would look around, mentally noting the battlefield around them.

Her azure hues fell back onto Inarie as she spoke again, noticing the smile from before had shifted into a more stoic and neutral expression. Haruko would nod in response to the briefing on their intents today. Haruko's gaze was loosing the nervous look, settling into her more neutral ways, the young woman's eyes almost seemed to look into the distance, as if looking through Inarie, even if her focus was upon the taller Kaguya's features. "Alright, I understand what we're here to do today." she'd say, her tone lacking the timidness from before. While one couldn't say it was exactly confident, it was a tone of someone serious about what they needed to do. "We still alright to use our Kaguya abilities?" she'd go on to ask, as it was a mainstay in Haruko's fighting style, curious if Inarie felt alright with this, or if it'd be too dangerous. Both of them should be skilled enough to use the abilities without endangering each other too much. But even if older, Inarie was Haruko's superior, and be the one leading this test of skills. Haruko would adhere to what Inarie wanted for this.

The question regarding the use of their Kaguya bones might seem strange to outsiders that’s not familiar with Kaguya traditions. However Inarie understood the traditions, but if she was to be perfectly honest Inarie was never one to uphold such traditions. Years of being shunned like an outcast made such traditions hold very little value to her. Inarie would nod her in agreement upon this question before verbally confirming it. ”In a real fight you don’t really ask if you can use our gifts. An enemy will take advantage over that and severely limit what you can do. Do remember that in the future.” Inarie had to firm here as she was concerned about how Haruko can fight. Granted there was a resolve manifesting within Haruko’s eyes, but perhaps Inarie’s eyes are playing tricks when she views Haruko’s roots are few and thin. Metaphorically Inarie doesn’t think Haruko’s will is sturdy, but this was what the test was for. So Inarie presented a soft smile again before following up with an actual answer.

”But to answer your question yes you may use your Shikotsumyaku.” Inarie’s left hand held itself in a cup position as sliding down from her sleeve is a solid black bone crudely shaped into a katana. It even has the indicator of where the sharp edge is, and it gracefully slides into her left hand as Inarie wrapped her fingers around the hilt. Being able to produce bones without having to pull them out sure is a nice boon. Inarie lowers her stance with her legs spread out with one foot in front of her. Turning her body into a 45 degree angle that narrows her form as the katana is held in both hands now with the blade pointing at Haruko. The hilt is positioned two inches away from her cheek, and Inarie’s expression is focused with a fierce willpower emitting from her eyes to her body.

Inarie will give Haruko however much time she needs to at least arm herself with a weapon, or at least get into a stance. Once she seemed to be ready, Inarie will speak. ”Begin.” The instant she says so, Inarie sprints the 10 meter gap in half a second towards Haruko. Just before Inarie got within her katana’s reach, if Haruko possesses a weapon whether it’s used to block or parry, Inarie will smack the weapon to Haruko’s right side before swinging the black katana diagonally across Haruko’s torso. Inarie will take care not to deliver lethal blows as she honors her word. She controls the reach, speed, and how much Inarie cuts. Leaving Inarie at most to cut through fabric and shallow cut in the skin assuming this attempt is successful.

In the event that there isn’t a weapon however, Inarie will simply attempt to swing her katana vertically downward at Haruko’s left shoulder down to her left torso. Again at most this will cut through fabric and deliver shallow cuts if it hits.

Haruko's gaze remained on Inarie as the Chuunin nodded and would respond to her question, first by mentioning that one doesn't get to ask such things in a real fight. Haruko knew this all too well, but it'd simply been a courtesy to ask where they would be drawing the lines for a spar. "I understand that too well..." is all Haruko would say, her voice quieter, and for a brief moment her gaze fell. There was hints in her body language that spoke that she'd already learned such a lesson long ago. Haruko may have been naive, and at times emotional...but she'd seen hardship, she'd fought for her life and suffered at the hands of others. But she'd shove all that to the back of her mind, the task at hand was her new focus.

The deep oceans of her icy hues would rise once more, watching for a moment as Inarie would form her own weapon--producing a bone as dark as the night sky into a crudely formed Katana, Inarie showing in this to Haruko she'd advanced her use of the Kaguya bloodline. Haruko had yet to be able to so easily manipulate her bones, but nonetheless Haruko would begin to produce her own weapon. By now, the nervous and timid girl who's arrived only moments ago was out the window--Haruko settling into her mindset for battle. She'd tilt her head to the right and the sound of her bones creeking and shaping could be heard even from the distance they was at, before a handle of bone would mold from her left shoulder. Much like Inarie's bones, Haruko's wasn't your typical shade of white. It could be described as a bright ice blue, close to white but with a noticeable tint too it. Some bits of the bone seemed cracked and broken away, revealing ice mixed into the structure of her bones.

Haruko would grip the handle with her right hand and with a yank, she'd remove the bone from her shoulder, pulling from it a katana-like sword, not too dissimilar to the one Inarie made for herself--the blade a hint elongated, a few inches longer then the one Inarie produced. This was too make up for the difference in their reach, Inarie having longer arms then the rather tiny Haruko. Inarie wouldn't have to wait any extra time, Haruko was quick to shift herself into a stance, keeping the sword gripped in her right hand as she quartered herself towards Inarie, presenting her left side forward while pulling her blade back, it held low, pointed to the ground--tip only a couple inches from digging into the dirt. Her feet would slide apart, widening her stance, the back foot turned and ready to side step in either direction--the front foot pointed forward. Classic T-Stance. She'd use the style taught to effectively all children of the Kaguya clan, Dance of the Blossom. The entire time, her iced over gaze would remain locked on Inarie's rose pink hues. With both ready, Haruko's ears burned with Inarie's voice.

    'Begin'.

Icy eyes kept track of Inarie with zero difficulty as the Chuunin rushed the older but less experienced Genin. Haruko would not miss a beat--with a smooth shift of her hand, the blade was switched from a forward grip to a reverse grip--and the spine of her sword rested along her forearm for extra support. Bringing her arm up and presenting her right shoulder forward, she'd come to meet Inarie's first strike. Inarie was only a bit stronger then Haruko, but with her forearm supporting her own sword, her sword would only be moved an inch by the strike. Seeing the second swing coming Haruko stepped back roughly 4 inches to bring her body out of the striking range of Inarie's sword while shifting her arm just a bit to defend her torso.

Blades of bone clashed for the second time in likely under a second, Haruko would twist her hips to follow her presenting the shoulder forward only a moment prior, and she'd lower down briefly to send a sweeping foot towards Inarie's ankles. Regardless of however this connected or missed, Haruko continued the spin to bring her sword back around with a precise swing, going for controlled cut that if connected should only graze Inarie's skin with the tip of Haruko's blade--the slice going from Inarie's top left to bottom right. Much like the restrain Inarie showed, Haruko did the same--the slash would only slice fabric and lightly cut if it was to connect.
